Ethan has created this photography collection in the Deansgrange branch of Japanese Jiu-Jitsu Ireland, as Ethan is a practicing member, they permitted Ethan to take some photographs of them practicing during a series of classes over various weeks. Ethan had great difficulty capturing them in the middle of sparring or conducting throws given the pace in which they moved at. The intention was for a black and white set of photographs reminiscent of the film Raging Bull.
These photographs capture the intense, high contrast, and visceral qualities that is innate to martial arts as an artform. This collection contains the essence and embodiment of Jiu Jitsu within 14 photographs.
