This is a short film Ethan directed and wrote which is a brief 5 minute drama character study on the gradual mental decline and eventual breakdown of an auteur director who destroys his relationship and reputation in the pursuit of creating a film. The perceived inadequacies by the director, Ciaran, over the duration of the production leads him to self-destruct emotionally and destroys everything that he cares about.
It was deeply immersive writing and directing this short film, as there is a degree of perception and psyche present within it as all art originates through the self in one manner or another. Colour is a strong presence throughout the short film as the colouration gradually becomes dark and darker reflecting the protagonists own descent into madness and self-loathing. This is reflective of Ethan’s understanding and appreciation of colour and lighting and how that can be immersive for the audience, embodying the narrative itself.
