Ethan is currently in the early stages of a new photographic project titled “Office Dreams” this is a project that centers around the perception of nature from the perspective of office work. The images are inspired from late 1990s and early 2000s Japanese corporate photography to sell commercial products such as computers, video games, and software programs. Ethan has been in the process of curating diagrams and storyboard images that capture the theme and stylistic approach intended for this project. Office Dreams is intended to be a surrealist, ethereal, and unnatural perspective on a synthetic unnatural corporate style intermingling with nature.
The reason for this approach was that in the years following the COVID-19 pandemic working from home and maintaining a stable career without leaving the house became normalized and in some fields, expected. Therefore, a by-product of this evolution in daily corporate life is that daily existence becomes separated from nature and what is interpreted as natural or rather expected existence, the understanding and interpretation of nature becomes distorted, unreal, and representative of unnatural synthetic aesthetics. This is why Ethan aims to create these intentionally dream-like photography that do not resemble our world or the corporate world but rather an unexpected meshing of both the synthetic and unnatural to create an ethereal reality.
